Pat Grange ALS Open
05/20/2013
Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
1 Club House Drive
Sandia Park, New Mexico 87047
In November of 2010, Pat was diagnosed with ALS. From the time he could walk, it was evident that Pat would become a gifted athlete. He excelled at all sports, but his true passion was soccer. Pat played two years of college soccer at the University of Illinois at Chicago before transferring to UNM, where he played for two additional years. After college, he played with the Albuquerque Asylum semi-pro team. He coached high school, club, and Lil’Kickers soccer, and was assistant manager at the International Indoor Soccer Arena. In 2011 Patrick was inducted in the AHS Hall of Fame, becoming the first soccer player to be honored. After his diagnosis, generating ALS awareness and research became his passion. He was instrumental in making a difference, including the declaration of February 3rd as annual ‘Patrick Grange ALS Awareness Day’ in NM.
In April 2012, Patrick Grange passed away at age 29. This tournament is dedicated to his memory.
